One adult and one child have been killed in a shooting in Newark Wednesday evening, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.
The investigation involves the area of Elizabeth and Meeker avenues. Police officers had multiple intersections blocked off in the area.
A neighbor who is also a member of the Newark Street Team tells News 12 New Jersey that she heard multiple gunshots.
A home in the area also appears to be under investigation.
News 12 has learned that the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General is the lead investigator for this incident. This usually indicates that a police officer was somehow involved in the shooting.
