President Biden is coming to New
Jersey on Tuesday to visit areas that were among the hardest hit by
Ida.
The president
is scheduled to come to Manville, which was not only impacted by major flooding
conditions, but had at least three building explosions: two homes and a
catering hall.
Ten inches of rain fell on Manville and numerous
water rescues had to be performed. Manville is surrounded on all sides by the
Raritan River
The president approved an emergency declaration
tor all 21 New Jersey counties.
All local governments and the state as a whole
are now eligible for federal money from FEMA. "We are here for you. And we're making sure the response and
recovery is equitable so those hit hardest get the resources they need and are
not left behind," says President Biden.
President Biden
is also going to see damage in Jamaica, Queens tomorrow. He was in
Louisiana on Friday checking out damage, where the brunt of the storm
hit.
Meanwhile, Governor Phil Murphy is touring and
getting a first-hand look at the damage in Lambertville, Hunterdon County
today.
