A portion of Lakewood was evacuated Tuesday after a worker at a recycling center found what was thought to be a pipe bomb.
After a couple of hours, the “all clear” was given, and the recycling center was reopened around 10:15 p.m.
The item in question turned out to be a device used for flares or fuses -- and was made in the late-1960s.
It's not known how it got to the recycling center, but it is believed that it was brought there in the last week or so.
