A teenager was injured Sunday when a speeding vehicle crashed into a pillar near a gas pump in Lyndhurst, police say.
Police had been pursuing a car in the area of Riverside Avenue before it struck the pillar at the Exxon station on the road. It had reportedly been traveling 100 mph.
As an officer approached the scene, Byron Hernandez, of Elizabeth, exited the car and entered the gas station convenience store.
The office then found a 17-year-old girl in the car. She was transported to the hospital for injuries.
Hernandez was arrested in connection to the crash.
