Thunderstorms slowly make their way through central New Jersey, bringing with them concerns of rumbles of thunder and numerous lightning strikes.
Since these storms are slow moving, localized flooding could occur. The flooding threat will go up significantly with Tuesday's storm threat. This is because more storms are expected over the same area. This will trigger localized and possibly small stream flooding.
Tuesday's storms will pack a bigger punch in just about every aspect of storminess. Damaging wind gusts would be the weather concern that will have storms becoming severe.
There doesn't appear to be a large hail threat or winds changing with height, so the tornado threat is also lower. But more rain over the same areas will lead to water collecting on the streets and sidewalks.
Traveling around and running errands will be impacted - so will the later half of summer camps.
The best chance for storms is between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m., especially from Middlesex County southward and along the coast.
Heat is also going to be a summery issue this week. Monday marked the second day of 90-degree weather.
Tuesday could be the third day and possibly mark the second heatwave. Temperatures, however won't be as grueling as last week.
The next six to eight days will see temperatures above 90 degrees as well.
