Jersey City police are searching for car thieves that struck two people and hit multiple parked cars when trying to get away.

The chaotic scene started Thursday morning when police spotted two vehicles that had been reported stolen.

Officers attempted to pull the drivers over on Merrit Street and Ruby Brown Terrace.

One vehicle stopped and a suspect ran away.

The second vehicle took off and supervisors called off the chase.

From there, that vehicle hit two parked cars on Fulton Avenue and another parked vehicle on JFK Boulevard.

Then continued onto Bergen Avenue near Union Street where the driver struck two people.

A 15-year-old, who News 12 has learned will be OK, and a man who suffered head trauma according to police.

They say he was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but expected to survive.

Jersey City officials say the investigation is still very active.
