A Manchester Township man has been charged with attempted murder for beating his 71-year-old mother, according to prosecutors.
Officials say Joseph Cavallaro, 44, assaulted his mother with a cane Friday afternoon at the Pines Aces Manor Mobile Home Community.
The victim sustained injuries to her face and body. She was hospitalized in critical but stable condition.
Cavallaro remains in an Ocean County jail awaiting a detention hearing.
