Authorities in Middlesex County are offering a reward for information leading to the arrest of a man who tried to lure children with the promise of fidget spinner toys and snacks.
New Jersey State Police released a composite sketch of the man who was seen inside the Quick Chek on Cliffwood Avenue in the Laurence Harbor section of Old Bridge on June 29. Police say that man tried to buy snacks for two children and then tried to get them to go outside with him by offering them hats and fidget spinners.
The children became uncomfortable, according to police, and notified store staff.
Police say that the man left the store after he was told to leave by staff. He left in a white Toyota, according to police.
The suspect is described as a thin, white man in his late-20s or early-30s. He was wearing a gold Yankees hat, sunglasses and a red Nike shirt. He also appeared to have a “scruffy,” unshaven face.
Middlesex County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for information leading to an arrest.
Anyone who may recognize the man is asked to call Old Bridge Police Detective Michael Machen at 732-721-5600, extension 3210.
