Authorities say a security officer at a New Jersey university pretended to be a teenage girl online so a teenage boy in Arkansas would send naked photos and videos of himself.
Burlington County prosecutors say 58-year-old Alan Berman also had sexually explicit conversations with the boy and possessed child pornography. He faces four counts of child endangerment.
Berman has been a security officer at Rider University since August 2017. He also serves as a captain in the Bordentown City Fire Department.
Prosecutors say that Berman was arrested Friday following an investigation that began with a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Officials there said an Arkansas woman claimed a man was trying to engage her teen son in inappropriate conversations.
A detention hearing is expected to be held later this week. It wasn't known Tuesday if Berman has retained an attorney.
Berman has been placed on administrative leave at Rider.
Prosecutors are asking anyone who may suspect Berman of inappropriate behavior to call them at 609-265-5035 and ask to speak with a detective in the High-Tech Crimes Unit.
