Police in Ocean County say that a food delivery driver became lost in the woods for about five hours while trying to make a delivery.
Ocean Township police say that the driver, who was not publicly identified, was trying to deliver food to a home near Wells Mills Road, which was set back down a dirt trail. He parked his vehicle on Wells Mills Road and attempted to make the delivery on foot but became lost, according to police.
Authorities say that the driver had been walking in the snow and rain for several hours before he was found. It took a team of over 50 first responders to find him.
"We're dedicated to the public welfare. We are dedicated to the people we serve. And secondly, if not more important than, …is that we work as a team. It's not one agency - police, fire, EMS - we all like to give each other a hard time but it's one team. It's one effort,” says Ocean Township Patrolman Michael Matalski.
The worker was taken to the hospital to be treated for exposure, but was not seriously injured.
