Norwalk police have charged two teens who allegedly made threats on social media.
Police say a 13-year-old and 14-year-old posted messages on Snapchat referencing a potential school shooting and bombing.
The teens were charged with breach of peace.
Investigators traced the post back to homes in Norwalk. After discussions with the minors and their parents, they concluded that the post was not credible. It was instead meant to be a hoax influenced by a gaming platform the youths were playing, authorities say.
Police released a statement in partnership with the Norwalk School District assuring its residents that they will continue to work tirelessly to maintain the safety and wellness of their students and staff in schools.
