A Bayonne High School teacher is being called a hero for using her body to shield a teenager who was violently attacked earlier this week.
Bayonne police say that five teenagers allegedly knocked another teen boy to the ground and repeatedly kicked and stomped the victim on his head and body while he was on the ground. It happened on Oct. 22, just before 3 p.m. at 24th Street and Avenue A.
Police say the teacher saw what was happening and came over to stop the attack.
Police arrested 18-year-old Educarray McGhie and four other teens between the ages of 15 and 17 in connection to the attack. All were charged with aggravated assault, endangering an injured victim and rioting.
Police say the victim was knocked unconscious during the attack. He was treated and released from the hospital.
