Community members across New Jersey gathered for peace rallies Sunday in response to the recent violent protests in Charlottesville, Virginia.
In Jersey City, residents joined outside the City Hall holding signs of encouragement and showing solidarity with the Charlottesville victims.
Organizers say they are taking a stand against hate.
"I think people are just waking up to a lot of the injustice that's racism and hate,” said organizer Aislinn Black.
Meanwhile, other community members joined at Budd Lake Public Beach in Morris County singing songs and holding signs condemning hate in America.
“When you come to something like this, and you interact with other people with good in their hearts who care about other people, you go home and feel better about the world,” said Elaine Wexler, of  Andover Township. “Just one person at a time, that's all it takes.”
