A group of Paterson elementary school teachers used the Ramapo River as an outdoor classroom Tuesday.
The educators are taking part in a summer institute at William Paterson University that emphasizes using the outdoors for hands-on lessons in science.
"It's pretty much to further educate us as teachers and bring new ideas back to our classrooms [to] share with our students," says teacher Bridget Dougherty.
