One fire led to another on Friday afternoon in Carteret. Officials say a truck fire on the New Jersey Turnpike ignited a brush fire along the Rahway River.

The front end of a Pat LaFrieda meat truck burst into flames before the fire spread to brush on the northbound side of the turnpike between exits 12 and 13.

It was not immediately clear what caused the fire in the truck but authorities say that dry conditions are what caused it to spread. They say there was no threat to any homes or businesses.

No injuries were reported.

New Jersey has not seen rain in more than a month, causing a high risk of fire danger.

New Jersey residents are advised to be extra cautious with any open flames. No fireworks, campfires or charcoal fires are allowed at this time.
