One person was killed and at least 13 others were injured after a lightning strike at an outdoor archery range in Jackson Township.

Police say that it happened just before 7:15 p.m. Wednesday at the archery range, located on Perrineville Road.

Police say a 61-year-old man was killed, and 13 others were suffering from a variety of injuries, ranging from burns to “complaints of not feeling well.” Police say the injured victims ranged in age from 7 to 61. They were taken to hospitals for treatment.

A witness tells News 12 that the people hurt were all part of a Boy Scout troop.

Gov. Phil Murphy said he was briefed about the situation.

"Please pray for everyone involved in this tragic incident," Murphy wrote on X.
