The prosecutor says Hackensack police officers responded Tuesday afternoon to Banta Place and State Street for reports of a fight. It is there that they found the 16-year-old suffering from stab wounds.

Officials say Morris and the victim got into an altercation. They say the 16-year-old pulled out a machete and slashed at Morris. They say that Morris, in turn, used a knife and stabbed the teen.

The 16-year-old is being treated at the hospital and will be headed to juvenile detention once he is released.
