The Essex County Prosecutor's Office wants the public's help identifying a van suspected in a fatal hit-and-run in Verona last month.
The white "construction-style" van appeared to have a ladder tied to the roof. A nearby security camera captured an image of the van while it was in the area.
Authorities say that on June 24 around 9:30 p.m., Verona resident and businessman Matthew BeneduceMcGrath, 59, was crossing Bloomfield Avenue near Hillcrest when he was struck by the van. BeneduceMcGrath was taken to University Hospital, but died from his injuries.
Anyone who might be able to identify the van is asked to contact the prosecutor's tip line at 1-877-847-7432.
