Authorities released new video and 911 recordings from a deadly crash last year that stemmed from a police chase in Old Bridge.
The crash happened at the intersection of Spring Valley Road and Route 9 South. One person was killed and two teenagers were placed under arrest.
Officials say the situation began in the early morning hours of Nov. 9. Two teenagers were caught on a Ring security camera attempting to steal an SUV from a home in Marlboro.
Someone inside the home called 911 at the time.
“A bunch of guys just checked the cars in my driveway,” the caller stated. “There was two on our driveway and I think I saw some more in the car.”
The chase began shortly after that call was made. Video shows the moment when the police arrived at the time and when the suspects got into their 2017 Nissan Maxima and took off.
Police dash cam footage shows the cops chasing that car for several minutes before crashing.
It was around 2:14 a.m. when police say the driver of that Maxima, 20-year-old Samuel Villar, collided with a car driven by 33-year-old Arturo Luna. Luna was killed in the crash and three of his passengers were taken to the hospital.
Villar was charged with manslaughter, assault and theft. A 17-year-old was also in the crash with Villar at the time. Officials say that he was charged with an act of delinquency due to his age.
