Prosecutor: Man faces manslaughter charges for deadly crash in Old Bridge

A Somerset man is facing charges in a deadly crash that started off as part of a police chase.
The crash happened around 2:15 a.m. Wednesday on Route 9 in Old Bridge.
The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office says that Marlboro police were attempting to pull over a vehicle that was suspected to be used in attempted car burglaries in the town.
Officials say that vehicle, which was stolen in New Brunswick on Oct. 23, refused to stop and that a chase ensued. The driver eventually crashed into several vehicles at the intersection of Spring Valley Road and Route 9 South.
Officials say that this crash resulted in the death of 33-year-old Arturo Tlapa Luna, of Freehold. Other members of the Luna family were injured in the crash.
Police the suspects inside the stolen vehicle were 19-year-old Samuel Villar and a 17-year-old boy.
Villar is facing several charges, including first-degree aggravated manslaughter and four counts of second-degree aggravated assault.
The 17-year-old was charged with an act of juvenile delinquency due to his age.
