Ice remains on some side streets, sidewalks, driveways, and shorelines in Lavallette after Friday’s storm.
A combination of storm surge, strong winds, and crashing temperatures left many parts first under water and then frozen solid.
“Once the flooding went down, we got the salt trucks out pretty quickly,” says Chief Christian LaCicero, of the Lavallette Police Department. “The night they were out all night getting the job done.”
Ice formed on docks and benches, but only minor damage was reported.
The chief warns people to stay off the ice on the Barnegat Bay because it's not strong enough to support a person.
