A Brick Township man is behind bars after authorities say he helped a murder suspect evade capture following a deadly shooting outside a Toms River WaWa.
Fifty-year-old Ronald Hagan turned himself in Monday. Prosecutors say he is one of four people charged with hindering the apprehension of Douglas Cobb, who remains wanted in the killing of Bruce Gress.
The shooting happened Sept. 18 outside a WaWa on Route 37 in Toms River. Prosecutors say Gress was sitting in his pickup truck when he was ambushed and shot in the head. The gunman then fled in a dark-colored sedan.
Authorities say Hagan, along with Sylvester Green of Bayville, Cherice Nicholson of Howell and Jennifer Rizalvo of Lakewood, either helped Cobb avoid apprehension or provided false information to investigators. Green, Nicholson, Rizalvo had been previously taken into custody.
A motive for the killing has not been released. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office.
