Bronx tenants in one city housing complex say they've been struggling without gas in their homes for the past three weeks.
According to residents of the Edenwald Houses, Con Edison shut off the gas at two buildings back on Aug. 18 because of a leak. Since then, they've received hot plates, but many complain the devices are broken and blow out after just one use.
NYCHA says it's waiting for permits from the city's Department of Buildings to finish repairs necessary to turn the gas back on. It expects that will take about four weeks.
Tenants say the inconvenience is forcing them to spend money on dining out, which is costing them too much.
Affected families are planning on holding a meeting about the issue with building management this week.
