The long-awaited ramp connecting the northbound Garden State Parkway to westbound I-78 lanes opened to traffic after Thursday's rush hour.
The ramp offers seamless connection between the lanes - meaning motorists will no longer have to head east in order to go west. Drivers who've grown accustomed to the maneuver say it's about time for a more convenient connection.
The project's second half will connect the southbound Parkway to eastbound I-78. It is expected to be ready sometime in 2011.
