Department of Health and Senior Services officials have confirmed the second death of a New Jersey resident related to the H1N1 virus.
The victim was a 15-year-old male from Somerset County who died at home June 8. The state Medical Examiner's Office is continuing to investigate the death and possible contributing medical factors.
Since the teenager died at home, an autopsy is required. His symptoms included fever, vomiting, coughing and congestion, officials say.
The teenager last attended school on June 5 and did not have symptoms at that time. Four more cases of flu-like illnesses have been monitored at his school, but no unusual activity has been reported.
New Jersey has confirmed 367 cases of swine flu in 19 counties. Another 236 probable cases are pending laboratory confirmation.
Health officials confirmed the state's first swine flu-related death on Monday, a 49-year-old man from northern New Jersey.
