California homicide suspect arrested; also wanted in Trenton killing
A man arrested in California in connection with a fatal shooting is also wanted in Mercer County for a separate homicide, authorities said.
Alfonso Inestroza, also known as Franquin Inestroza-Martinez, was arrested March 5, 2026, in connection with a January homicide in Sunnyvale, California, according to the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.
Officers responded at about 9:39 p.m. Jan. 7, 2026, to reports of a shooting near 1225 Vienna Drive in Sunnyvale.
At the scene, officers found a woman inside a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim, identified as Kembery Chirinos-Flores, 24, of Mountain View, was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspects fled before officers arrived.
Investigators later arrested Inestroza, a resident of Hollister, California, following a multiagency operation. Police recovered a shotgun believed to be the murder weapon.
Inestroza was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on murder charges. Officials said he also had an outstanding arrest warrant in New Jersey tied to a separate homicide investigation.
The Mercer County prosecutor alleges Inestroza is responsible for the March 17, 2025, fatal shooting of Esteban Vicente Sacalxot, 55, in Trenton.
Police responding at about 9:30 p.m. found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Sacalxot was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators identified Inestroza as the suspect in that case and issued arrest warrants. The U.S. Marshals had been working to locate him prior to his California arrest.
