DOT: 2 lanes of I-287 south closed in Pequannock for emergency repairs
Two lanes of Interstate 287 south are closed in Pequannock for emergency repairs.
The New Jersey Department of Transportation says that this week’s extreme heat caused part of the road to break apart.
The right lane and shoulder are open to traffic. The rest are closed. Crews are expected to have repairs complete in time for the Thursday morning rush hour, according to DOT officials.
This is very close to where the same thing happened on Tuesday. Parts of I-287 south were closed in Riverdale and Montville due to the heat.
The DOT says crews worked overnight to repair the damaged roadway joints and all lanes reopened by 11 a.m. Wednesday.
Forecasters say temperatures are expected to cool down to seasonable conditions on Thursday.
