NJ Transit insists that it is an agency committed to safety, but some riders are wondering whether it's true in the wake of Friday's fatal crash.
Investigators are focused on getting their hands on both of the buses involved in the accident to find out if either vehicle had any mechanical issues.
They'll also be looking closely at video from surveillance cameras on board both buses in hopes of discovering how the crash happened.
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has given NJ Transit poor marks for driver fitness, citing 25 driver fitness violations in the past 24 months.
In May, NJ Transit took part in National Safety Month, which stressed safety measures to employees through site visits, revisiting safety protocols, and posting reminders on safety measures.
