Long Beach Island was not the only spot in the Garden State hit by the brief but nasty storms Tuesday.
News 12 radar showed the intensity of the storms as lightning strikes and strong winds pummeled parts of the state in the late afternoon and evening.
News 12 viewers submitted photos from around the state including lightning streaking across the sky in Island Heights, a large tree that landed on a car in Mantua, and a massive tree completely covered a truck in Washington Township.
The southern half of the state seemed to get it worse and News 12 viewers caught some of the action on video including lightning in Forked River, Burlington and Eatontown.
The wind was also a major factor. News 12 Storm reports show winds in excess of 50 mph along the shore.
