Newark Mayor Ras Baraka is expected to appear in federal court this morning following his arrest last Friday at the Delaney Hall ICE detention center.
Federal officials have accused Baraka and three New Jersey members of Congress of trying to storm the gates of the facility.
Baraka says Delaney Hall personnel opened the gate for him and allowed him to enter the property.
He says he and the congressional delegation were there to inspect the facility.
On Twitter Wednesday, the mayor shared a video saying, "This is the moment I was invited into Delaney Hall. Nobody was kicking or shoving like the coverage suggests. We were invited in."
The court appearance will take place later this morning. News 12 will be there for the latest updates.
