New Jersey Transit officially launched the renamed DoorDash Meadowlands Rail Line on Thursday afternoon from Secaucus - the method that will transport tens of thousands of fans to MetLife Stadium during the FIFA World Cup.

The food delivery service earned exclusive naming rights on the line, prominent signage around Secaucus Junction and custom-wrapped train cars and buses after supplying $1.7 million to NJ Transit. That, along with other sponsors, reduced FIFA World Cup train ticket costs from $150 to $98.

On Thursday, transit officials toured every step of the FIFA commute for the first time. The line only runs from Secaucus Junction to MetLife Stadium on event days. It's about a 15-minute trip.

Transit leadership said that during the World Cup, trains will run between Secaucus Junction and the stadium every five minutes before and after the matches. Officials also showcased the temporary bus terminal at the stadium. Buses will arrive every seven minutes.

The world will meet New Jersey through Secaucus Junction, and NJ Transit will meet them with ambassadors fluent in foreign languages.

“The presence of our crews, our police folks, our rail staff, our bus staff, our ambassadors, people like me," said President and CEO Kris Kolluri, "Will blanket these areas so nobody will ever feel like they’re lost.”

The first of eight matches in New Jersey is 6 p.m. Saturday. Four are on weekdays and will impact daily commuters on mass transit and state highways.
