A Union City woman is out of jail tonight after being charged with assaulting three crew members on a U.S. Airways flight from North Carolina to Florida.
Peggy Albedhady-Sanchez was arrested upon landing after police say she attacked crew members and was tackled to the floor. She allegedly struck three crew members when one of them refused to serve her alcohol. Albedhady-Sanchez's son, Alex Velazquez, says the incident has been blown out of proportion. He says he was shocked when he found out about the arrest and accusations.
Velazquez tells News 12 New Jersey that his mother has had two recent surgeries for brain aneurysms, and says her mother also passed away several months ago. The family was sending Albedhady-Sanchez to her son's house in Florida so she could put it all behind her.
Velazquez says his mom is on medication for depression and anxiety. He says his mother admits to having a drink and arguing with one flight attendant. Albedhady-Sanchez was released from a Florida jail this evening, surrounded by news cameras.
