The financial company Self Financial, Inc. says New Jersey residents will pay more taxes in their lifetimes than any resident living in any other state.
According to the company, the average American pays around $525,000 in taxes in their lifetimes. The taxes include income, property, cars and spending.
In New Jersey, Self Financial, Inc. says residents will pay $931,000.
New York will pay about $200,000 less than in New Jersey, Pennsylvania just shy of $600,000, and Delaware just over half a million.
West Virginians pay the least over their lifetime -- a little over $321,000.
