Bloomfield police posted on social media, urging residents to “see something, say something.” The department is among several in New Jersey notifying residents about increased security at houses of worship and other sensitive locations.
Bloomfield police also emphasized there are no specific threats to the township or the state.
Gov. Sherrill’s office says it’s monitoring the situation in Iran, Israel, and the rest of the Middle East. Officials say there is no known threat to New Jersey, but as a precaution, law enforcement will step up patrols around houses of worship and other key sites.
The New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness said there are no credible threats to the state and that officials continue to assess intelligence and share information to support protective measures statewide.
New Jersey State Police also released a statement saying there are no credible threats and that troopers are working with federal, state, county, and local partners to ensure the safety of worship sites across the state.
