A patient who is being treated at a New Jersey hospital has tested negative for the novel coronavirus.

A patient who is being treated at a New Jersey hospital has tested negative for the novel coronavirus.
Health officials say there are no other people in the state who are currently awaiting testing for the virus.
The patient was being treated in isolation at Bayshore Medical Center in Holmdel.

"Most New Jersey residents are at low risk for novel coronavirus," said Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli. "If individuals are having symptoms, the illness is much more likely to be caused by common respiratory viruses such as flu or the common cold."
Health officials say local hospitals are prepared to handle any coronavirus cases that may come out.
