New Jersey Attorney General's Office investigates fatal police-involved shooting in Fort Lee

Police were called to “The Pinnacle” apartment complex on Main Street about 1:25 a.m. Sunday, according to the New Jersey Attorney General's Office.

The New Jersey Attorney General's Office is investigating a police-involved shooting death in Fort Lee.
Police were called to “The Pinnacle” apartment complex on Main Street about 1:25 a.m. Sunday, according to the attorney general's press release.
A man told a 911 operator that his sister was having a mental health crises adding she was holding a knife.
Police arrived, spoke with the male caller in the hallway and then noticed two women inside the apartment who told the officers not to come in and shut the door.
Officers knocked and eventually forced their way inside. As the sister approached, one officer fired a single shot, striking her in the chest.
A knife was recovered at the scene.
There is no information on the woman’s identity or the officer's situation at this time.
