New Jersey is continuing to see over 1,000 new COVID-19 cases for the last six days.
Health officials announced 1,139 new positive cases of the virus on Friday, for a statewide total of 225,430 cases since March. Officials also announced 11 additional deaths, for a cumulative death toll of 14,484 lives lost.
Hospitalizations are also on the rise, according to health officials, with 874 patients being treated for COVID-19. There are currently 212 people in the intensive care unit – the highest that number has been since July. There are 73 patients on ventilators.
The rate of transmission is holding steady at 1.17.
Officials say that cases of the virus are rising in northern New Jersey, with a positivity rate of over 6%. Essex County had the most number of new cases on Friday at 194.
