While Hurricane Erin stays offshore, the winds and waves will be felt along the Jersey Ocean.

From Long Beach Island to Point Pleasant, beaches in Ocean County are bracing for rough surf and possible beach erosion.

Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects and may cause tree limbs to be blown down and a few power outages may result.

Winds are expected to be 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph out of the northeast.

The National Weather Service continues the high risk for life-threatening rip currents on Thursday, along with a high surf advisory for large breaking waves of 7 to 12 feet in the surf zone.

The waves on Friday could be 6 to 9 feet with a high risk of rip currents.

A coastal flood warning is in effect until early Saturday morning.
