Some Morris Park drivers complain municipal, or "muni" meters, are taking away spaces instead of adding them.

Multiple drivers feed single muni meters to park on a block. The meters are supposed to free up more spaces, allowing vehicles of different sizes to park without being restricted by individual meters. However, many drivers say people are parking farther apart rather than closer together due to the lack of normal metered spaces. Some business owners also complain the meters are cutting into their bottom line because customers are getting frustrated and driving off.

Community Board 11, which agreed to have the muni meters installed more than a year ago along Morris Park Avenue, wants them taken out. Board members say the Department of Transportation (DOT) told them it was a pilot program. However, the DOT says it will not take the meters out. The DOT also says it has no knowledge of the meters ever being temporary.
