While most people in New Jersey were hunkering down indoors during the recent snow days, a woman in Howell made the most of the wintry weather by building a full-sized igloo in her front yard.
The snow and freezing temperatures that enveloped the state over the weekend were all the inspiration Kelly Grobelny needed to brave the cold and prove that when life gives you snow, you create real estate.
"I've wanted to make the igloo for years, but it was never cold enough," Grobelny said. "However, with the incredibly low temps we are having this week, I knew this was the time to start building."
The igloo features both white and blue handmade bricks. Inside, chairs and blankets turn the igloo into a cozy hangout for her family. At night, lights give the entire structure a blue and purple glow.
While warmer temps will eventually melt the icy dwelling, the memories Grobelny made building it will be frozen in time.
