Prosecutors say 28-year-old Matthew Robinson Jr. stole about $17,000 while serving as treasurer at the Mays Landing Fire Department.
Through the investigation, Robinson admitted he used department funds for personal expenses from January 2024 through the beginning of this year.
Prosecutors say he covered his tracks by altering and deleting accounting records.
The investigation is ongoing.
