Police collected evidence late into the evening Wednesday after a man was found shot to death in a car mere blocks away from the new Prudential Center Arena.

Investigators believe the shooting occurred in multiple locations. They believe the incident started at the intersection of South Orange and Springfield avenues. A green sedan and the murdered man were found on Springfield Avenue by Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Police responded to reports that shots were being fired from a green sedan around 6 p.m. near the Essex County courthouse.

The man has not yet been identified, police said.
