Man charged after police find missing NJ girl in Ohio
A 19-year-old man is facing charges after he was pulled over in Ohio with a missing Toms River girl as his passenger, authorities said.
Toms River police said the 13-year-old girl was reported missing on Oct. 11. She was found in Ohio on Oct. 17 in a vehicle driven by Jeffery Trautmann, 19, of Jackson, authorities said.
According to documents from the Ohio State Highway Patrol Public Affairs Unit, a trooper stopped a 2000 Volkswagen the evening of Oct. 17 and issued the driver, Trautmann, a summons for going 76 mph in a 65 mph zone.
The unit said the trooper then determined that the vehicle and its passenger, the missing girl, had been entered into the National Crime Information Center related to a missing child incident.
Trautmann was charged with interference with the custody of a child under 18, possession of marijuana and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. He was being held on bail in the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio pending a court appearance.
The Toms River Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Bureau said it is working in cooperation with the Ohio State Highway Patrol to determine if any additional charges will be filed against Trautmann.
