A surfer is reunited with his wedding ring, which he lost at the Jersey Shore 18 months ago.
Chris Jones went surfing back in October of 2018 in Deal, and realized that he lost something - a hand-crafted wedding ring engraved with the image of a surfer.
After the surfing session, Jones posted on a Facebook group known for surfers and fishing enthusiasts.
Some months later, Patricia DeStefano was out near the Deal Casino beach looking for shells and sea glass when something caught her eye, but she didn't realize right away what she picked up. When she got home, she made a post on the same Facebook group about the lucky find.
"I was just kind of puttering around, it wasn't even that great of a day out,” says DeStefano. “I thought it was a key ring. I would have never expected that it was something of value or certainly not as sentimental as this that made it so exciting."

DeStefano says it only took about 20 minutes after she posted the photo of the ring for someone to contact her, claiming to be the ring's owner. Patricia drove the ring to the happy couple nearly 18 months after it first went missing.
Jones says the ring is in great condition considering it spent all that time in the ocean.
