“Sesame Street” is turning 50 and a celebration is being held at the Liberty Science Center.
“One World, One Sky: Big Bird’s Adventure” is part of the museum’s planetarium.
"It takes something people are familiar with, Big Bird and Elmo, and then it sort of introduces new topics like the moon and the sun,” says planetarium educator Brian Kremer.
Kremer says that the show is not just for New Jersey’s children.
"People who are having children grew up watching ‘Sesame Street,’ so it's great they can come in here and sort of relive a little bit of their childhood,” Kremer says.
“Sesame Street” first aired in 1969 and has used Muppets and human actors to educate and entertain young children about different cultures and customs, as well as traditional lessons like math and language skills.
The show also has a New Jersey connection.
“Part of the show was helped produced here at Liberty Science Center,” says Kremer.
“One World, One Sky” plays at the planetarium every day that Liberty Science Center is open. More information can be found at the
museum’s website.
