A Kane in Your Corner investigation found that millions of toll dollars are wasted by the Delaware River Port Authority, (DRPA) which runs four bridges in southern New Jersey.
A report from the state comptroller's office says officials treated the authority like their own personal ATM machine. The report found that over the past 10 years, the authority gave more than $1.5 million to insurance brokers, regardless of whether those brokers actually performed any services.
The report found DRPA also gave free lifetime E-Z Passes to their current and retired directors and allowed directors to get passes for their friends and relatives as well. That practice has since been stopped.
DRPA says it is committed to implementing all the recommendations made by the comptroller.
