A Science Park High School student just made history by becoming the first student from the Newark school to win the New York City Invitational Debate and Speech Tournament.

Ashley Lourenco is very comfortable making her case behind a lectern.

Debaters from all over the country were no match for her. Lourenco also won the tournament's Best Speaker Award.

Her teacher credits her “Jersey Proud” composure in securing the win.
