A Berkeley Heights woman is hoping to inspire children to overcome adversity.

Marianne Middlebrook has been in a wheelchair since she was a child. She suffered from spinal muscular atrophy when she was 2. She was a patient at Children's Specialized Hospital in New Brunswick.

This week, she returned as Ms. Wheelchair New Jersey for 2025. When she's not wearing the crown, she works as a therapist.

The kids are learning about the possibilities from someone who was a patient here not too many years ago.
