Students in Somerset County were given a rare opportunity to meet with NASA astronauts. One was aboard the International Space Station while another was in the classroom.
Astronaut and New Jersey Native Dr. Gregory Linteris visited Thomas Edison Energysmart Charger School (TEECS) in Franklin Township. They also spoke with astronaut Nick Hauge, who is on the space station.
The astronauts spoke about what it is like to be in outer space.
"You see the earth and it’s absolutely, breathtakingly beautiful. You can see whole continents at a time,” says Linteris. “You orbit the earth every hour and a half. So every day you see 18 sunrises and 18 sunsets."
TEECS was one of 12 schools nationwide to get this opportunity.
