A traveler infected with measles spent time in Bergen County, and officials now want to alert the public about possible exposure.

The patient was at the Lifetime Athletic gym on Van Riper Road in Montvale Friday, Oct. 5 from about 8:30 a.m. to noon.

The patient is said to have traveled from Israel.
Between Oct. 4 and 11, the person traveled quite a bit through Rockland County and Westchester County in New York and in Montvale.
Measles is an airborne disease and highly contagious. People who have not been vaccinated can develop symptoms that seem at first like a common cold, followed by a rash.
The symptoms appear usually about 10-12 days after exposure, but can appear as early as a week before and as late as three weeks after.
If you think you may have been infected, you are asked to call ahead and let your doctor or clinic know before you visit.
News 12 has reached out to the gym and was told to contact corporate headquarters.
